Over the years we have had the privilege of enjoying many character meals at Walt Disney World. While we have had a great time at each one, there have been a few that we continually go back to on each of our trips. One of our favorites is the Chip ‘n’ Dale Harvest Feast breakfast at the Garden Grill restaurant at Epcot. Here are four reasons why we love breakfast at Garden Grill and why we think you should it out for yourself on your next trip to Walt Disney World.
1) A Unique Perspective
Our most favorite time to go to the Garden Grill is before park opening. When you have a reservation before park opening, you are allowed to enter the park before other guests. Now this doesn’t mean that you will be able to hop onto Spaceship Earth before anyone else, as the rides are not opened yet and you are expected to go directly to your destination. This does however allow you to see Epcot from a completely different perspective. Empty!
2) The Experience at Garden Grill
The Garden Grill Restaurant is located within “The Land” Pavilion at Epcot. It is on the second floor of the Pavilion located just above the attraction, Soarin’ Around the World and is unique in that this restaurant rotates in a circle as it overlooks the attraction “Living with the Land.” Now hold on…I know what you’re thinking. How am I gonna hold down breakfast if the restaurant is spinning? You’ll be fine as the Garden Grill turns at a very slow speed so that it is barely noticeable. It takes just little over an hour for the restaurant to make a full rotation.
On this particular morning, we experienced a little Disney magic. We just happened to be the first reservation seated and to celebrate we were offered the opportunity to take a picture with all of the characters.
3) The Food and the Characters at Garden Grill
As you dine you are greeted by four different characters including Mickey decked out in his farming attire. We especially love Chip and Dale!
The cost for breakfast as of February 2020 is $42.00 per Adult and $27.00 per child ages 3-9 (price does vary depending on the time of year you visit). Breakfast is served family style and includes the following:
Chip’s Sticky Bun Bake
Fluffy Scrambled Eggs
Thick-sliced Bacon and Sausage Links
Seasonal Fresh Fruit
Hash Brown-style Potato Barrels
Mickey-shaped Waffles
Non-Alcoholic Beverages are all included with breakfast except the Special Character Drink which is $6.
Special Character Drink
Tea
Apple Juice
Coffee
Orange, Passion Fruit, and Guava Juice Blend
Cranberry Juice
Lemonade
There are two specialty cocktails that are offered during breakfast. These are the Mimosa $12 (Nino Franco Rustico Prosecceo with Orange Juice or the Passion-Orange-Guava Juice) and the Bloody Mary $8.50 (Tito’s Handmade Vodka with Bloody Mary Mix). Click here for updated pricing and menu.
We especially love Chip’s sticky bun bake!
4) An Extra Fastpass
As the saying goes, “the early bird gets the worm!” This is very true of an early morning breakfast at the Garden Grill. It’s like getting a free Fastpass as it puts you in the Land Pavilion right above Soarin’ Around the World. If you plan your reservation early enough you have plenty of time to eat and enjoy the character interactions. Then you can make your way down to Soarin’ Around the World and ride with minimal to no wait.
We have done this many times now and it saves us from using a Fastpass on Soarin’ and instead allows us to use it for another headliner attraction like Test Track or Frozen Ever After later in the day. This also saves us time waiting in lines at Epcot later in the day. We have even been able to ride Soarin’ a second time with little wait by getting back in line as soon as we come off the first time.
Well there you have it. Four reasons why we love the Garden Grill and why we believe you should add a breakfast reservation at the Garden Grill to your next stay at Walt Disney World. We have enjoyed our experience each time we have gone and believe you will also (plus Chip and Dale are great!). It is a great opportunity to have some one on one interaction with some of your favorite Disney characters while enjoying a great meal and saving yourself some time in the park without the stress of rope dropping (arriving at park opening to ride a headliner attraction).
